50mm Standard Wheelset

For a young cyclist who started competition on an entry-level machine, the first equipment upgrade recommended by those in the know is a new pair of  wheels. The increase in performance given by a good wheelset can be startling. And for any boy or girl who is saving up for the quantum leap to carbon wheels, the ICAN standard 50mm is an obvious choice. Top-class Toray T700 carbon cloth is used to mould the rims, which are drilled for 20 spokes in front and 24 at the rear. The spoke lacing pattern is radial, to cut drag-building air turbulence, except on the drive side of the rear wheel, where rigidity is guaranteed by an ICAN-patented two-cross pattern, even for a big rider who weighs 105 kilos (230lbs). This multi-purpose wheelset relies on a pair of  bulletproof Standard hubs, with two sealed bearings in front and four at the rear. The hubs tick on a foolproof six-pawl system â€?listen to them buzz as you freewheel!  Here’s a bonus â€?the rear Standard wheel comes ready to accept a Shimano 12 or 11 cassette.
