The 25mm wide rim mates naturally with a 25mm or 28mm tyre. In the old days, it was believed that a skinny tyre pumped up to bursting point with a tiny contact patch on the road would give minimum rolling resistance. But modern research has exposed this idea as completely false! For superior control, cornering grip and minimum rolling resistance, you need at least a 25mm rim and a reasonable tyre pressure, between 90and 135 psi. On top of that good news, the FL 40 rim shapes up along with the tyre cross section to provide an aerodynamic profile â€?which cuts drag. This rim, moulded from Toray T700 carbon cloth, has a braking strip capable of withstanding temperatures in excess of 300 dgrees Celsius on long mountain descents, and will accept either clincher or puncture-resistant tubeless tyres.
