Cycling is growing, and nothing is growing faster than the gravel segment. This is because gravel is all about bikes being built and ridden in a way that is driven by consumers and not by professional riders. Our AC388 is inspired by what you would want to ride and how you ride.
One crucial part for gravel bikes is their brakes. Gravel involves riding offroad and riding offroad makes riding hazards a little less predictable, and you will need to stop quickly in what could be adverse weather conditions or fully leaden if you are bikepacking. We, therefore, specced this frameset to run flat mount disc brake.
Disc brakes mean you can stop fast and safe, but you also need your frame and fork to be stiffer for this to happen. This is why we have ditched quick release and gone with 12mm thru axle wheel fitment. We have also worked the Toray T700 fibers into a very stiff but compliant frameset, this is boosted by our BB86 bottom bracket. The stiffness will help you get up to speed as much as it will allow you to slow down with the disc brakes.
Not only did our engineers work hard on the carbon layup but they have also been working hard to make sure our internal routing works well, especially if you are using hydraulic brake hoses rather than cables. This will help to make sure your gear changes and braking stays crisp when you are out backpacking or if you fancy to race cyclocross.
